Yakaz is a place for people to meet and exchange locally. It is a free platform to discover local life, post ads or recommend stuff you like. It is also a network for social interactions with people around you.

You can find anything that can be sold, given or exchanged. Actually, anything your neighbors may want to share on this site: “For sale”, “For rent”, “Services”, “Jobs”.
You will also find recommendations, advice and opinions about local topics by your neighors: “Questions”, “Events”, “Reviews”.

Want to check if your neighbors are already registered on Yakaz? You can look for them by clicking on the "Search neighbors" button.

Yakaz results are a balanced mix of criteria that best match your query. A top result is a perfect combination of freshness, quality, speed, keyword placing (etc.). Yakaz neighbors' posts come on top of external websites ads to favor the community.

The classified ad may just have been removed from the website. Yakaz continuously crawls the web, but it's possible that an update has a slight delay. We apologize for the inconvenience. In case this happens, don't hesitate to let us know, so that we can improve our technology.

Save your favorite searches by clicking on the star next to the results header. You can select or unfollow this search any time on your Subscriptions page.
You will automatically receive an email alert with the latest results matching the searches you follow. To change the frequency of your alerts, go to the setting page.

If you wish to follow a post, you can click on the star on the left side of the post.You'll be updated in real time about this post in your News Feed.You can select or unfollow this post any time on your Subscriptions page by un-clicking the star.

If you get too many results, you can always refine your search. Yakaz analyzes automatically the field of your search (real estate, cars, jobs, etc..) and suggests appropriate search filters for you.
Ex: Looking for a Ford Fiesta ? Directly search by color, price, year...

Make sure you find exactly what you need by using our Search Options. Choose a category, select one or more locations, refine by price or any criteria. Follow your search.

The shorter the message, the better. Try to be concise and choose the most appropriate keywords to make sure your ad will be read by the right people.

The way you use Yakaz is up to you. Sell a car, borrow a snowboard, give yoga lessons, share tips, ask for help. To find out what can and can't be done, read our community guidelines and our Terms & Conditions.

Anything you publish on Yakaz is free.

You can attach

• Pictures (either copy and paste the URL of a photo you found online or upload a picture directly from your computer)
• URLs (copy and paste the link you want to add)
• Locations (type in the exact address of the location)
• Topics (see below)

You can upload up to 5 pictures per message.

Make sure the picture you are trying to upload has a standard format (.jpg, .png, .gif). The size of the picture is limited to 2 MB.

No need to use URL Shorteners. Add a link to your post as an attachment and your URL won't be counted in the characters. Note that if you try to add a shortened URL, it won't work.

Your post will be searchable for 30 days. It will then still be visible on your profile, yet not findable through the search box. You will be alerted by email a few days before it's removed with a renewal notice to have it published for 30 more days.

If you want to be found, try to step into your potential partner's shoes. You are limited to 280 characters, so type essential information that will link other neighbors to your post. Detailed information can be given within open or private discussions.

Make sure you have chosen the right category for your post: for sale, for rent, ...
To increase the visibility of your post, add topics to your post.

Go on your post page, click on the appropriate box on the right side of the screen, below the map. Alternatively, you can also click on the link "Delete my post" below your post.

To change your picture, go to your settings or to your profile.

To change your personal data, go to your profile settings.

We're all looking for more transparency and security on the Internet. Avoiding anonymity doesn't mean avoiding confidentiality: dealing with strangers knowing their real name increases your chances of making good deals with people you can trust. As a seller, it also gives you more credibility towards the community.

Note that you may choose who's allowed to see your last name in your settings.

Go to your Privacy Settings, "change password".

Go to your Profile Settings, "change account information".

Make sure that our email wasn't identified as spam. Note that it may take up to 4 hours to get to your mail box. If you haven't received a confirmation email after 24 hours, please contact us.

Go to the Sign in page and click on the "Forgot your password?" link next to the password box.

Did you confirm your email? Make sure there aren't any typos. You can also solve the problem by changing your password on the Forgot your password page. If you still have trouble, please contact us.

Go to your Profile Settings, "change account information".

While using Facebook connect, we only take information that will be useful for you on Yakaz:

• First name
• Surname
• Email
• Hometown

Yakaz won't publish any content on your Facebook or Google Plus wall without your approval.

Publishing your posts on Facebook will increase your chances to sell with a little help from your friends.

You can start chatting with any neighbor by:

• clicking on the "chat" button of his message
• clicking on the "chat" button on his profile page

Note that if a neighbor is offline, you cannot chat with him, but you can still send him an email.

Any person who's logged in and who's online may send you messages if you have created a profile. If you are logged in, they can also chat with you.Note that if you don't want to be contacted, you have the option to choose a status on your chat box.

• Online: means anyone can chat with you and you can start a chat with anyone who's online.
• Offline: you are still logged on Yakaz but not on the chat box. You aren't able to use it and no one can chat with you.

Note that if you don't want to be contacted by a neighbor, you may "block" him anytime on his profile page. Visit the Safety page to learn more about privacy, terms & conditions, spams, scams and harassment.

You may delete an entire conversation on the email page. Otherwise, it will be saved as long as your account exists.

Comment on any ad, place, event, or answer any question posted by a Yakaz neighbor by clicking on the appropriate button below the post. If it is an ad posted on an external site, you won't be able to comment on it.

You can remove or flag (report abuse) comments that are linked to an ad you posted by clicking the icon.You can also vote as "best answer" the answer you believe that suits best to your question.To favorite good comments and answers, you can also upvote them.

Topics are:

• Here to help you find interesting stuff.
• A way to classify conversations.
• A good trick to help you get your post/ ad found easily.
• A way to develop your competencies.
• A way to show your neighbors what you know through the topics badges from your participation in a topic.
• A way to stay updated about local trends.

A topic is a keyword following a #. ex: #cooking #books #HouseSwap.

Tip: Clicking on a #topic in any message shows you all other posts in that topic.

Love to talk about #gardening? Want to share tips and chat with people from your area who are also interested in this topic? Just make a classical search in the search box, but add a # in front of the wording you're looking for.

You'll find all classified ads, questions, places and events related to this topic. To stay updated about what is being said within this topic, just click the star to the left of the results header.

Whenever you publish a post, you can ad a topic keyword to your ad as following:

• Click on the # icon to add a topic. Type the keyword(s) you want to add in the appropriate box. Note that you do not need to type the # in front of the keywords. They will be automatically added.
  
• A second option is to write this word with a # in front of it (ex: #VideoGames) within your ad. This method is less preferable, as in this case, the letters will be counted in the characters countdown (which is limited to 280 characters per post).

If you publish a post with a topic, anyone who does a search for that topic may find your post.

Tip: A Topic is a "one word" keyword. It means that there should be no space between the characters you use. If your topic is a two-word expression, you may write it with capital letters to make it readable. ex: #VideoGames

There are two ways to earn badges:

• When you follow a #topic, this topic is automatically added to your profile. Whenever you add value to this topic, you earn points, and can level up to earn a higher badge.
  
  You level up whenever you:
  • create new content labeled with this topic
  • have an answer best voted
  • have an answer or a comment upvoted
  
• You can also earn activity badges when you do special things on Yakaz. We reward your activity, your involvement within the community.

Your privacy settings can be modified on your Privacy Settings page. You can choose what other people can see and who can see data about you. You can also choose the frequency of the notifications we send you per email. Access your privacy settings by clicking the top-right screen icon.

If you believe the content of a message is inappropriate, you can report it to us by clicking the "Report Abuse" link below the post. You may alert us of adult content, spam, prohibited content, wrong locations, expired message, aggressive behavior.You can also report spams on the profile of the spammer clicking on the "Report abuse" button on the right part of his profile page.

You can block any neighbor by clicking on the "Block" button on the right part of his profile page. In this case, you won't see the messages he posts anymore, and he won't be able to contact you through Yakaz.

Once logged into your Yakaz account, go into your Privacy Settings page. Access your privacy settings by clicking the top-right screen icon.Go to the bottom of this page to find the Account Removal option.
